Splits privacy policy

This policy covers the Splits app for iOS and Android and the currency converter on davidewins.com/splits. Splits is made by David Ewins, a sole trader in Ireland.

The short version

Splits collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. What you enter stays on your device.

No accounts

You don't sign up or log in. There is no user account and no profile.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter is stored only on your device, in the app's local storage:

• amounts you type
• your pinned currencies and home currency
• trip spends and their notes
• your colour and appearance choice
• the last exchange rates the app downloaded

None of this is sent to me or to anyone else. Deleting the app deletes it.

What is collected, stored on servers or shared

Nothing. I don't collect personal data, I don't store it on any server, and I don't share or sell it. Splits has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking SDKs.

Network requests

Splits makes one kind of network request, and it doesn't include anything you've entered.

It downloads exchange rates from open.er-api.com, run by ExchangeRate-API. Like any web server, it receives your device's IP address as part of that request. The request contains nothing else about you. See their terms and privacy information.

The country flags shown next to each currency are built into the app, so they don't need a network request.

The converter on this website

The converter on davidewins.com/splits works the same way. It downloads rates from open.er-api.com in your browser and saves them, along with the two currencies you picked, in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to me. You can clear it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

The website has no analytics, no ads and no cookies. As with any website, the server that hosts it receives your IP address when your browser loads a page.

Children

Splits isn't aimed at children, and I don't knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 16.

Your rights

Because I hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for me to access, correct or delete. If you have a question or think something here is wrong, email me.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
