# Stripe Connect fee calculator > Work out Stripe's processing fee, the platform's cut and what the seller receives for destination charges, direct charges and separate charges and transfers. See what Stripe takes, what the platform keeps and what the seller gets, for each way of charging. ## How to use it - **Order total**: the amount the customer pays. - **Platform's Stripe account**: Ireland or United Kingdom. - **Card type**: where the card was issued, which sets the Stripe fee. - **Currency conversion**: whether Stripe has to convert currency. - **Platform fee**: the percentage of the order the platform keeps. The calculator shows what the customer pays, the Stripe fee and the platform fee, then what the seller receives and what the platform keeps for each charge type. ## By charge type - **Destination charge.** The platform takes the payment and Stripe moves the seller’s share straight away. Stripe takes its fee from the platform. - **Separate charges and transfers.** The platform takes the payment and sends the seller’s share later with its own transfer. Same money as a destination charge for one seller, with control over timing. - **Direct charge, account pays fees.** The payment is made on the seller’s account and Stripe takes its fee from the seller. This is how Standard accounts work. - **Direct charge, platform pays fees.** Same direct charge, on an account created with the fee payer set to the platform. Stripe bills the platform instead. Per order, before Connect fees, refunds and disputes. When the platform pays Stripe and its fee is smaller than Stripe's, the platform loses money on the order. Example with the calculator's starting values: €50.00 order, platform account in Ireland, Standard EEA card (1.5% + €0.25), no currency conversion, 10% platform fee. - Customer pays: €50.00 - Stripe fee: €1.00 - Platform fee: €5.00 | Charge type | Who pays Stripe | Seller receives | Platform keeps | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Destination charge | Platform | €45.00 | €4.00 | | Separate charges and transfers | Platform | €45.00 | €4.00 | | Direct charge, account pays fees | Connected account | €44.00 | €5.00 | | Direct charge, platform pays fees | Platform | €45.00 | €4.00 | ## Who pays the Stripe fee **Destination charges.** The charge is made on the platform, so Stripe takes its fee from the platform's balance. Setting `on_behalf_of` makes the seller the business of record and uses the fee structure for the seller's country, but Stripe still bills the platform. Refunds and chargebacks also come out of the platform's balance. **Separate charges and transfers.** Same as destination charges: the platform's balance pays Stripe's fees, refunds and chargebacks. You decide how much to transfer to each seller and when. **Direct charges.** The charge is made on the seller's account. Who pays Stripe depends on a setting chosen when the account is created (`controller.fees.payer` in Accounts v1). With `account`, which is what Standard accounts have, Stripe takes its fee from the seller and charges no Connect fees. With `application`, the platform pays the payment fees and the Connect fees. Refunds and chargebacks come out of the seller's balance either way. If the platform pays Stripe and sets its own prices ("You handle pricing"), which is the case for destination charges and separate charges and transfers, these apply on top of the card fees above. They are charged per account and per payout, not per order, so the calculator leaves them out. ## Rates checked 10 Oct 2026 These are Stripe's standard published rates. Card fees depend on where the card was issued compared with the platform's account. Stripe offers custom pricing at volume, so your own rates may be lower.
