# Preppers support

## Does it work offline?

Yes, once your packs are downloaded. The emergency cards are built in and work from the start. Reading, search, bookmarks, notes and maps need no connection after that.

## Where are packs stored, and how much space do they need?

Packs are saved inside the app on your phone. Each pack shows its size before you download it, and setup shows how much of your free space your picks use. They range from a few megabytes to tens of gigabytes for all of Wikipedia or a large map.

## A download paused or failed

Keep the app open on the Downloads screen while a big pack downloads; the screen stays on there. If a download pauses, tap Resume to carry on from where it stopped. If it fails, check you have a connection and enough free space, then try again. Wi-Fi is best for large packs.

## How do I delete a pack?

Open Downloads and tap the delete button on the pack. To stop it being picked again, open Change packs and turn it off.

## How does export work?

Export makes a Markdown file of your bookmarks, highlights and notes. You choose where it goes: save it to Files, or send it in a message or email. Nothing is sent unless you do.

## Maps and location

Maps are OpenStreetMap packs for your region, with place search. The app asks for your location only when you tap the locate button, and uses it only on your phone to show where you are.

## PhET simulations

PhET packs hold interactive science and maths simulations from the University of Colorado Boulder. They run inside the app with no connection. Some work best with your phone turned sideways.

## Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up and nothing to log in to. What you save stays on your phone, and deleting the app deletes it.
