# iOS build fails in react-native-skia: 'third_party/base64.h' file not found

> Skia's relative include only resolves through the pod's header search paths.

iOS. Confirmed fix, 30 May 2026.

Versions: @shopify/react-native-skia 2.x with expo-build-properties useFrameworks: static

Error:

```
node_modules/@shopify/react-native-skia/cpp/api/third_party/base64.cpp:7:10: fatal error: 'third_party/base64.h' file not found
```

## Cause

Skia's relative include only resolves through the pod's header search paths. With `use_frameworks! :linkage => :static` every pod becomes a framework module and that path stops resolving. Clearing caches does not help.

## Fix

Remove `useFrameworks: "static"` from expo-build-properties (Skia works with the default static libraries), then rebuild once with `--clear-cache` so Pods regenerate.
