# Dev build fails codesigning: provisioning profile doesn't include the Apple Pay capability

> The dev variant uses its own bundle ID (e.g. com.example.app.dev). The Stripe plugin requested the Apple Pay merchant entitlement for every variant, but only the production App ID had Apple Pay enabled in the developer portal.

iOS. Confirmed fix, 1 September 2026.

Versions: Expo + @stripe/stripe-react-native config plugin

Error:

```
provisioning profile doesn't include the Apple Pay capability
```

## Cause

The dev variant uses its own bundle ID (e.g. com.example.app.dev). The Stripe plugin requested the Apple Pay merchant entitlement for every variant, but only the production App ID had Apple Pay enabled in the developer portal.

## Fix

Either enable Apple Pay on the dev App ID in the Apple Developer portal, or only pass `merchantIdentifier` to the Stripe plugin for the production variant in app.config.ts. Dev builds rarely need working Apple Pay.
